Storybook Making

What makes a great story? Why do you like your favorite book? Explore these questions as we mix drawing, painting, writing and storytelling. Students will illustrate their stories from start to finish.

Pop Art: Mid-Century Marvels

The pop art movement was one of the most influential art movements of the last century.  In this mixed media course beginner to intermediate artists will learn the ins and outs of pop art world.  We will create our own masterpieces inspired by Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist, Roy Lichtenstein, Jim Dine and Claes Oldenburg. Students will experiment with collage, comic drawings, oil pastels, acrylic paint and clay sculpture.

Kids in the Kitchen (7-week session)

Learn kitchen basics from appetizers to zesting and make yummy food. Students will learn how to make a new recipe each week, why they use certain ingredients in various recipes, and they will sample everything they make. There will be new recipes this quarter.

Youth Drawing and Painting

This class will cover fun and exciting drawing lessons to build landscape and portrait compositions. Subject matter is based on student interests, and no prior experience in drawing or painting is necessary.

Representational Drawing

Students will draw from life in a realistic style, including perspective drawing and portraits.  This includes people, life forms, landscapes, environments and architecture.

Drawing Animals

Explore exotic sea life creatures this session as you master size, texture and the unique characteristics of each featured animal.  Students will become proficient in both wet and dry media such as charcoal, watercolor, colored pencils and pastels. Dive into the vibrant colors of a secret underwater world.

Supermix

Explore clay, sand art, stamping, watercolor/oil pastels, acrylic painting and collage techniques with new projects each week. Creativity is strongly encouraged with no experience required.

Ceramics for Youth

The class will begin with handbuilding and then move on to wheel throwing. Clay is provided as students need it, and a class set of tools is available. If preferred, students may purchase their own 25-pound bag of clay and toolkit.
