mixed media pastel and watercolor

Multi-Media: Colored Pencil, Pastel and Watercolor with Gayle Clayborn

This class will focus on learning through exploration in a relaxed environment. Students work on individual projects focusing on composition, perspective, value, color mixing, layering and more in their medium(s) of choice.

Students should bring their own personal supplies, such as the following:

  • Some kind of support to work on (watercolor paper, pastel paper, bristol paper or other drawing paper)
  • colored pencils, pastels or watercolors (student choice)

Homeschool Cartoon Drawing

Do you read the Sunday funnies or watch Saturday morning cartoons? This class will cover how to turn simple lines and shapes into expressive characters that can be used to tell your own story. Draw classic to contemporary cartoon characters step by step and learn the basics of storytelling. No prior experience is necessary for this fun and comical class.

Kids in the Kitchen

Have fun in the kitchen!  We will learn kitchen basics about everything from appetizers to zesting and make yummy food.   Plus….you will take home a sampling of a new recipe every week that you made in class!

Youth Drawing and Painting

This class will cover fun and exciting drawing lessons to build landscape and portrait compositions. Subject matter is based on student interests, and no prior experience in drawing or painting is necessary.

Representational Drawing

As a class we will be drawing from life in a realistic style. We will be covering everything from perspective drawing to portraits. In this class the instructor will demonstrate drawing techniques of how to represent people, life forms, landscapes, environments and architecture. With directions to learn how to create scenic images with step by step drawing techniques.

Supermix

Explore drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, sculpture and more with new projects each session. No prior experience is necessary.

Ceramics for Youth

Formerly titled “Youth Potter’s Wheel”, this class will cover the fundamentals of working with clay. The first half of class will focus on handbuilding techniques to create unique, functional works of art by coiling, pinching and slab building. Next, students will learn proper wheel throwing techniques and explore beyond the fundamentals of working with clay. Students use a classroom supply of clay and tools during this class. 25lb. bags of clay and ceramic tool-kits are available outside of the classroom supply for $21.50 each.

Drawing Animals

Students will study wildlife as they learn to notice and record proportions, textures and other physical characteristics. Students can bring a list of animals they would like to draw while exploring wet and dry mediums, such as charcoal, watercolor, colored pencils and pastel.
