Youth Culinary Arts Workshops:

Kids Cake

Cake Decorating for Kids

Jun. 8 | 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. | $40 | Instructor: Kara Smith, Adore Sugar Cookies.

During this workshop, creativity is key to frosting and decorating your very own 4″ two-layer cake. Simple decorating and piping techniques will be demonstrated and discussed. In addition to your cake, a take home cake decorating goodie bag and recipes will be provided. Ages 5 and Up. Adult supervision is encouraged for children under 8.

Edible Floral Bouquet: Mommy & Me Cookie Class

May 12 | 11:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. | $55 per pair | Instructor: Kara Smith, Adore Sugar Cookies.

Celebrate Mother’s Day with this cookie decorating class. Each pair will decorate six sugar cookies in the theme of an edible mason jar floral bouquet. Basic piping and flooding skills will be taught during this class.  All supplies are included in the cost of the class. In addition, a take home cookie decorating goodie bag will be provided. Cost of class includes tuition for one adult and one child. Ages 5 and up. Class limited to six pairs.

Donut You Know I Love You?: Daddy & Me Cookie Class

Jun. 9 | 11:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. | $55 per pair | Instructor: Kara Smith, Adore Sugar Cookies.

Celebrate Father’s Day with this cookie decorating class. Each pair will decorate six sugar cookies in the theme of donuts and coffee. Basic piping and flooding skills will be taught during this class.  All supplies are included in the cost of the class. In addition, a take home cookie decorating goodie bag is provided. Cost of class includes tuition for one parent and one child. Ages 5 and up. Class limited to six pairs.

Big Easy Eats

May 9 | 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. | $45 | Instructor: Joe Stumpe.

Learn how to make dishes from New Orleans, considered the county’s top food city by many people. Jambalaya, muffalettas, Bananas Foster and crawfish pie – me-oh-my-oh! – are just some of the dishes you’ll master. This is a hands-on session ending in a great meal. Participants who are 21 and older are welcome to bring wine or other beverages to class. Suggested pairings: Hurricanes, Merlot.

White Cake

How to Frost a Cake for Adults

May 10 | 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. | $55 | Instructor: Kara Smith, Adore Sugar Cookies.

Learn the basics of creating a smooth surface to your cake frosting with proper tools and techniques. Discussion of frosting recipes, cake mix add-in’s and baking will be covered. Each student will leave with their own frosted 6″ two-layer cake. Simple decorating and pipping techniques will be demonstrated. In addition, a take home cake decorating goodie bag and recipes will be provided.

Wonderful Wines of Washington

May 16 | 6 – 8 p.m. | $45

Move over California, Washington is giving you a run for your money! Washington may be one of the “new kids on the block” in the wine world, but it is certainly proving itself to be a major contender as a world-class wine-producing region. You will sample a variety of wines in this class. Food is not provided.

Global Grilling

May 23| 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. | $45 | Instructor: Joe Stumpe.

Ever since the invention of fire, man has been cooking food over fire. No wonder the world is full of great grilling recipes. This class shows you how it’s done from Australia to South America, with stops in Asia and Europe. This is a hands-on session ending in a great meal. Participants who are 21 and older are welcome to bring wine or other beverages to class. Suggested pairings: Cabernet, Syrrah.

Wizard of Oz: Adult Beginner Cookie Class

May 24 | 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. | $45 | Instructor: Kara Smith, Adore Sugar Cookies.

Become a wizard of all things sugar cookies during this two hour class.  Learn the tricks, tips and techniques of cookie decorating. Techniques covered in this class include: pipping and flooding, detail pipping and water color brushing with edible paint. Learn the difference between Buttercream frosting and Royal icing and how they apply to cookie decorating. All supplies are included in the cost of the class. In addition, a take home cookie decorating goodie bag and recipes are provided.

Greek to Me

May 30| 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. | $45 | Instructor: Joe Stumpe.

You’ll shout “Opa!” after learning to make handmade pita bread, flaming cheese, souvlaka, pastitio, baklava and more. This is a hands-on session ending in a great meal. Participants who are 21 and older are welcome to bring wine or other beverages to class. Suggested pairings: Riesling, Chardonnay.

Yoga & Nutrition Series

Come join us for a month of yoga and nutrition!  Every Wednesday in May, we will challenge our bodies with a little yoga on the terrace followed by a demonstration and taste sampling in the culinary kitchen.  A treat for the body, mind, soul, and taste buds! Instructors: Heather McDonough and a certified Yoga Instructor.

Each workshop is 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and $50 per participant. Limited to 12.

Yoga and Salad: May 23. See how easy it is to keep salad ingredients on hand for quick summer lunches.

Yoga and Fermented Foods and Drinks: May 30. Come sample and learn about the benefits of consuming probiotic-rich foods and beverages.

Knife Skills

Jun. 13 | 6 – 8 p.m. | $40 | Instructor: Harry Pape, (Chef H.)

Come and learn how to use your knives properly. No, you do not need 8 or 9 knives in your kitchen, just a few will do. Learn how to keep your knives sharp and how to properly care for them so your investment will last for years. We will have some snacks for everyone but there will be no food preparation.

Discover Italy Wine Workshop

Northern Italy

Jun. 20 | 6 – 8 p.m. | $45

The wine regions of Northern Italy may all be connected by the Alps but their commonalities end there. The variety of wines produced in this region are vast! Crisp, clean whites, powerful reds and delicious sparkling wines can all be found here! You will sample a variety of wines in this class. Food is not provided.

Southern Italy

Jul. 18 | 6 – 8 p.m. | $45

Tuscany may not necessarily be considered “Southern Italy,” but for the purposes of this class it will be. Immerse yourself in the famed wines of Tuscany along with the rustic, reds from the South! You will sample a variety of wines in this class. Food is not provided.
