Pottery & Ceramics Open Studio and Supplies:

Tuition includes glazes, firing, first 25 pounds of clay and open studio from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays.

New students taking a 10-week class will need a ceramics kit which may be purchased for $21.50 on the first day of class. New students should also bring a bucket for water and a hand towel.

Beginner Potter's Wheel with Jack Norris

This course is for those who are new to the potter’s wheel. Students will learn the basic steps for creating handmade functional pottery: throwing, trimming, glazing, and firing. This is a shortened five-week class for beginners only. All tools and clay will be provided.

Learn proper throwing techniques and fundamentals of working with clay. Closed-toe shoes are required. Class limited to eight students.

This class mixes beginning students with experienced and ranges from the basic steps for creating functional pottery to advanced techniques for artistic sculptural vessels. Students in this class work at their own pace in a friendly atmosphere with plenty of individual instruction and help from the instructor.

This class explores the wide range of approaches to vessel making, formal alteration, decoration and trimming.

Handbuilding

Handbuilding with Troy Becker

Learn handbuilding techniques such as coiling, pinching, and slab building to create unique sculptures or functional dishware. Students work at their own pace in a relaxed social atmosphere.

Advanced Ceramics Courses

Advanced Ceramic Techniques with Troy Becker

This class will focus on alternative firing techniques including building and firing a raku kiln, pit firing and anything else we can come up with as a team. Students enrolling in this class should have a good grasp of the basics already and are expected to participate in class discussions and critiques.
