Mark Arts invites all North American artists to apply for the Oil Painting National Exhibition, July 20 – September 29, 2018.
Only oil painting media, including alkyds, will be accepted. Acrylics and oil pastels are not eligible. All paintings must be thoroughly dry and suitably framed. Paintings should be ready to hang, with screw eyes and wire installed. Irregularly shaped paintings are acceptable. There are no size limitations.
Artwork must have been created in the past two years and must not have been exhibited previously in a Mark Arts exhibition. Each entry must be wholly designed and executed by the artist.
The juror is Daniel J. Keys of Fresno, California, a self-taught painter whose works now hang in prominent collections throughout North America, Europe and Russia. Keys started painting at age 11 with a paint set purchased with birthday money. He is a protégé of master artist Richard Schmid, whose style Keys emulates. Keys has won numerous awards, and his work has graced the covers of multiple magazines including Art of the West (twice), American Artist, American Art Collector and the premier European art publication, Pratique des Arts.
Cash awards of $3,000 will be given, and patron purchase awards are also anticipated. Online submission deadline is 11:59 p.m. on June 3, 2018.
