Harmony Through Geometrical Shapes

German artist Brigitte Landgrebe will show you the endless possibilities to work with geometrical shapes, especially with the square. She will help you to render your canvas into a perfect piece of harmony by using either bright colors of the chromatic circle or by staying within a color family.

July 9 – 10, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Ages: 16 + | Instructor: Brigitte Landgrebe

Early Bird Price: $160 | After June 18: $180

Supply List:

  • – Drawing paper or sketch-pad
  • – Acrylic paint colors: red, orange, yellow, purple, blue, violet, turquois, green, black and white. Be sure to get bright colors, no beige or brown.
  • – If you purchase paint in bottles, consider bringing recycled yogurt containers or other plastic bowls to pour you paint into.
  • – If you purchase paint in tubes, there is no need for containers.
  • – A cloth/rag to clean brushes (or use the paper towels Mark Arts will provide)
  • – Brush Sizes: Please bring a variety of brush sizes. We will use fine tip brush for details and edges while we will use larger brushes to cover more areas.
  • – Brush Types: Round brushes are recommended. If bringing a flat brush, be sure it is made of soft bristles.
  • – Apron, smock, or wear old clothes
  • – Canvas: Recommended sizes include 20 x 20 or 15 x 15. Other, more rectangular dimensions are also okay, such as 8 x 40. No matter what size you choose, we will be dividing the canvas in squares. The more variety in canvas dimension we have in our workshop, the more fun. However, do not go too big as we want to have enough time to complete your piece.

Cheer Up With Colors

Children will discuss the colors of the rainbow and whether they prefer warm or cool colors. They will experiment with watercolor on paper and then will complete a canvas. All supplies provided but please either bring an apron, smock, or wear old clothes for painting in.
